As a local designer from Queensland, Australia, I specialise in original quality accessories with a strong costume flavour. I have over 20 years of experience in designing and making clothing, costumes and accessories.

Most of my experience has been as a Patternmaker and Costume Maker for live theatre, opera and film. Some of my work can be seen in films such as 'Star Wars - Attack of the Clones' and 'Scooby Doo', as well as several productions of 'Romeo & Juliet', 'Madame Butterfly' and 'La Boheme'.Violet Rose Designs came about from my passion to create and share some of the wonderful imagery, colour and magic I have often experienced working in costume for stage and screen.

The name of the label is my Mother's name who was born in 1939, an era that I love to draw inspiration from. I thought it to be the perfect muse for my creations. It encompasses many of the fabrics and clothing styles which I am naturally drawn to.

Each design is handcrafted and I like to blend old and new materials for my chokers and neckpieces, blending hand dyed vintage lace, ornate trims and glass beads, with modern velvets, gross-grain ribbon and tulle.

Inspiration for many of these creations come from the past, incorporating simple beauty, elegant lines and an emphasis on colour, cut and texture.

I hope to add to my range with 40's styled petticoats, tulle skirts, organza bustles and beautiful frocks.
